BLUEBETTAWOLF
CONTEXT:
After lockdown began, many of us picked up a new hobby/interest or rekindled an old one. After March 2020, my music taste did a complete 180. All I wanted was music that made me happy and that reflects heavily on my Bujo Project in the later months. I couldn’t stand to hear a song about heartbreak, loss, or anything related to sadness due to the state of our world during that time.
I grew up on pop music and I’ve known k-pop (Korean pop) since Wonder Girl’s “Nobody”. However, I didn’t start actively listening or explore the genre until the pandemic. And before you ask, my favorite group is NOT BTS or Blackpink. My favorite k-pop group is a 12 member girl group called LOONA.
CHALLENGE:
When I decided to look for other orbits (Loona fans) online, I came in just as the girls were releasing a new mini album called 12:00. Everyone was excited since they was new music coming out. Back then, I wasn’t collecting photocards, which are similar to baseball or Pokemon cards, but contains a selfie of a k-pop group member or artist instead.
However, I noticed that orbits were struggling to identify which photocards they had on the way from the 12:00 era. This was the first time there were multiple online stores selling the Loona album and offering a store-only benefit (usually a photocard) if you purchased the album in a certain timeframe. Since this all happened in a short timespan, this lead many orbits to be confused, collectors and kpop resellers alike.
SOLUTION:
During the next Loona album release, I decided I was going to make graphic templates to help photocard collectors distinguish which photocard came from which store.. From a social media standpoint, I decided to post my graphic templates on Twitter because this is the site that most template makers use and Twitter’s search feature would make my templates easier to find.
Two years later, I have been consistently updating my templates whenever merchandise gets shipped out. Instead of just creating templates for specific album releases, I decided to expand and make full member templates for all 12 members of Loona.
RESULTS:
Expanded Twitter account reach by 5.25x over a 30 day period by being one the first creators to create and update their graphic templates at least once a week when new merchandise was being released weekly
Increased average Twitter engagement by 2x in the span of 3 month by posting consistent updates and leveraging keywords to make tweets searchable to non-followers
Increased traffic to my website by 3x over a 30 day period by creating a consistent posting schedule during peak hours when fans were more active on Twitter
Achieved over 15,000 clicks/visits to my Google Drive folder where I have HD copies of my graphic templates in the past 2 years
